Researching Mongolia for the Mongolian story

Next week, our Heroes are off for an excursion in Mongolia, the land of Genghis Khan and gerbils. So much to discover. Let’s jump right in! #BOOM

Mongolia is a landlocked country in East Asia, bordering Russia to the north and China to the south. The country is divided into 21 provinces or aimags, with the capital Ulaanbaatar administered separately as a capital city with provincial status.

Gerbils. Mongolia is renowned for its cute little gerbils, which is among the most popular species in the pet trade in the US, Indonesia, and many parts of the world. Despite this, the national animal of the country is… the critically endangered Przewalski’s horse. Our Heroes will ride these horses in their excursion.

Mongolia is a developing country, as its HDI is ranked 92nd in the world.
